12 Spicy Apple Muffins with Cinnamon, Walnuts and Cloves
Updated: Jul 14, 2019
Apple muffins come to mind when October comes around on the farm and the apples are ready for the picking. Of course, I make a variety of things every year - apple butter, apple strudel, apple pie and even apple cider vinegar which takes a good year to mature before it is ready. But boy, is that apple cider vinegar good! It is even better than Braggs and that's saying something!
Apples are good for you. Yes, really. They are rich in fiber and simple sugars and high in carbohydrates. Apples also contain vitamin C and potassium. In addition, apples are filled with antioxidants including quercetin which is great for improving your memory and lowers risks of high blood pressure, cancer and heart disease.
Anyway, I digress. Back to these apple muffins made with cinnamon and cloves that are quick and easy to make. There is something about the smell of apples infused with spices cooking in an oven. Adding some raisins or walnuts to ring the changes to this healthy apple muffin recipe made with honey and almond flour takes it to a new level.
With the combination of cinnamon and cloves, as these muffins are baking away, your kitchen will fill with the aroma reminiscent of an old-farmhouse kitchen. Ideal to make when you are trying to sell that house!
