101 Healthy Breakfast Recipes

Updated: Jul 9, 2019

Breakfast recipes that are quick to make and still healthy and nutritious

Who hasn't been in that position where you wake up in the morning, you're running late, but you still have to make sure the kids and yourself have a good start to the day? Breakfast is really important. It is the fuel that will keep you going until the next meal. These breakfast ideas are quick and easy and are also healthy. Breakfast cereals are awful. There is probably more nutrition in the cardboard box it came in, and we all know they are laden with sugar - far more than what is good for you. So reaching for the cereal box and throwing some milk into a bowl is not the solution for a healthy breakfast.

With these breakfast ideas you will be surprised at how good your breakfasts will look after very little time and effort. My sort of meal! I too have been a mother of three, held down a full-time job, and had to keep a husband happy. Time needs to be spent wisely, and that doesn't mean slaving away in the kitchen morning, noon and night. Who has time for that? You can still be a Kitchen Goddess - it just has to look and taste good. No one needs to know how long it took to prepare.

Healthy Breakfast Recipes using Yogurt

A healthy breakfast of homemade granola, strawberries, blueberries and yogurt.
Homemade Granola with Strawberries, Blueberries and Yogurt

Greek yogurt is the only yogurt I buy when I don't make my own homemade yogurt. The reason why I don't buy any other type of yogurt is that I am allergic to additives and preservatives. Good Greek yogurt is completely natural and you can pair it with a number of things to make a really quick and healthy breakfast. All yogurts are definitely not equal. Some are loaded with sugar, so check the labels before purchasing.

  • Yogurt and berries make a great quick breakfast. Add a sliced banana if you want to bulk it up.

  • Yogurt and stewed fruit also go well together. If you have frozen berries or frozen fruit in the freezer, add a few tablespoons of honey and the same of water and boil down until thick. Place the stewed fruit at the bottom of the bowl and top with your Greek yogurt.

  • For other quick healthy breakfast ideas, make your own muesli when you have some spare time and place the homemade muesli in individual small mason jars. Seal up to keep in the freshness and keep them in your pantry for later. When needed, take them out, top with yogurt and berries of the season. Strawberries, currants, and raspberries can be used in spring and summer and blackberries and blueberries can be eaten in the autumn.

Berries are full of vitamins and antioxidants, and together with the natural yogurt which helps balance the flora in your stomach, you have a very simple, but very healthy breakfast that took you minutes to prepare.

Healthy Breakfast Recipes and Cereals

Improving Basic Store-Bought Cereals by adding Fruit, Nuts and Seeds

I am not a fan of store-bought cereals but if you have to buy them here are some ways to improve them. It is far better to make some homemade muesli or granola. At least you know what you are putting into your breakfast bowls and it isn't loaded with sugar!
