A Pumpkin Butter Recipe for Quick and Easy Halloween Treats

A pumpkin butter recipe for Halloween made with cooked pumpkin, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt. This is a quick and easy recipe, and made in minutes if you have a blender. It is also perfect to make for gifts in a jar.

For those of you who have seen this at county fairs, school fetes and farm stalls and thought that it was too difficult to make, think again. Pumpkin butter is one of the easiest things to make, as long as you have pre-cooked your pumpkin first. We have some tips for doing this  the easy way on our Halloween recipes page.

However, if you want to really cheat and cut down on the cooking time you can also use canned pumpkin instead. Just be careful with the sugar and salt content, as canned pumpkin already may have salt and sugar added.

For this pumpkin recipe combine all ingredients in a blender, cover and blend until smooth.  Simmer in a small saucepan until slightly thickened, stirring often. This butter recipe makes about 2 cups and can be served with either crackers or bread.

2 cups cooked pumpkin, mashed
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
