Delicious Savory Cheese Muffins - Easy Recipes

Cheese muffins are my favorite muffins to make as I prefer savory cakes and food, to sweet foods. I also like the fact that you can add so many different ingredients to cheese and end up with a different taste altogether.

You can ring the changes and add a 1/2 red onion, or leek, bacon, or smoked salmon. If you want a little heat to your muffins, you could also add either cayenne pepper with the cheese, or a small amount of red chili.

Don't overdo the chili though, as this can be very unpleasant for some.

This is definitely a very versatile muffin recipe that also freezes well.

Cheese Muffin Recipe

2 cups self-raising flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon mustard powder
1 cup grated cheese
1 cup milk
1 egg

Sift dry ingredients together and add the cheese. Beat the egg and milk together, and add to the flour mixture. Do not over mix. Spoon into greased muffin trays. Bake at 220°C (430°F) for 12-15 minutes.
